Job Description
The Intellectual Property (I.P.) Paralegal responsibilities range from managing intellectual property, real estate, licenses, and miscellaneous agreements and contracts.    
 
 Responsibilities:
  • Administer PATTSY database, perform trademark clearance searches and prepare reports of results
  • Provide recommendations for trademark registration and renewal as well as prepare and file trademark applications and renewals
  • Instruct and oversee foreign trademarks and maintain docket and responsibility for deadlines
  • Investigate third party conflicts and submit evidence for third party matters
  • Review watch service notices, identify potential conflicts, draft cease and desist letters
  • Prepare lease abstracts and amendment summaries
  • Maintain real estate charts and distribute monthly
  • Draft termination notices, non-disclosure agreements and complete estoppel requests
  • Prepare license agreements and amendment summaries
  • Review various contracts to identify potential issues
  • Create off-site event agreements, track and complete customs documents
  • Maintain chart of licensor approved factories and handle renewals for all in-store music licenses in the US/UK/IE
  • Manage database of license agreements
  • Review proofs and press releases for trademark and licensor compliance
  • Provide guidance to internal teams regarding intellectual property, proper trademark use, potential infringers, potential partnerships, legal research of various topics
Qualifications
  • An Associate Degree with 3-5 years of experience as a practicing Intellectual Property (IP) Paralegal; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Ability to read, understand and summarize various legal documents
  • Strong understanding of lease terms
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities with ability to meet all deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint   
  • Attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change
